Our Environment Policy
We are passionate about reducing our impact on the environment and from the outset designed energy efficient heating and ventilation systems alongside low energy lighting into the practice design.
Recycle your contact lenses and packaging
2018 saw us introduce a free contact lens, contact lens case and contact lens solution bottle recycling scheme for not just our patients but any contact lens wearer. We have a recycling point in the practice’s dispensing area for anyone to drop their used lenses, packets or empty solution bottles into.
Refillable spectacle lens cleaner
Our spectacle lens cleaner from Glasklar is not only a fantastic cleaner but it’s the most environmentally friendly option we could find. Everytime the bottle needs a top-up just pop in and we’ll top it up with cleaning solution free of charge! Clarity members receive their bottle as part of their benefits or you can buy one for a small initial cost.
Contact lens plates
Contact lens examinations and checks used to involve stocking lots of spare contact lens cases which were discarded after each use and gave rise to a lot of plastic waste. We’ve recently replaced these with recyclable lensplates allowing us to remove, store and rehydrate contact lenses without wasting contact lens cases.
Old spectacles
We are delighted to partner with Lions Club International’s Ayr branch in their Recycle for Sight program to collect and donate old spectacles and sunglasses. These can be dropped off in the practice before being collected by the Lions Club and reused for patients worldwide who do not have access to eyecare and glasses.
